We are currently partnering with a well-established and growing engineering consultancy to recruit a Design Technician / Junior Engineer specialising in residential foundations and retaining structures.

This is an excellent opportunity for a junior to intermediate candidate looking to build their career in a supportive, technically focused environment, with exposure to a strong pipeline of residential projects.

The Role Working as part of an experienced design team, you will be responsible for delivering foundation (slab/footing) and retaining wall design and documentation across a range of residential projects.

This role offers a strong blend of technical design and CAD drafting, making it ideal for candidates who enjoy both detailed documentation and engineering problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of foundation and footing design documentation
• Design and detailing of retaining wall systems
• Interpretation of architectural and structural drawings
• Utilisation of AutoCAD and internal design tools/software
• Applying relevant Australian Standards and design principles
• Reviewing soil reports and understanding their impact on design
• Maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Managing workflow and contributing to overall team delivery
• Liaising with internal teams and responding to client enquiries

About You We are open to a range of backgrounds, including both junior engineers and experienced drafters/design technicians.

You may bring:

• 2+ years’ experience in structural, civil, or foundation design (ideal)
• OR strong AutoCAD/drafting experience within the construction industry
• Exposure to residential construction or engineering projects
• Understanding of footings, slabs, or retaining wall systems
• Basic knowledge of soil conditions and foundation behaviour
• Ability to read and interpret building plans and drawings
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn

Qualifications

• Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Civil, Structural, Geotechnical Engineering or Building Design,
  or equivalent industry experience
