A leading energy company is seeking a Development Manager to support the delivery of its energy transition strategy. This role sits within a high-performing development team responsible for identifying, developing and executing large-scale generation and firming projects across the NEM.
You will lead the development of complex, capital-intensive projects (typically $100m–$1bn), taking them from early-stage concept through to FID, including managing development budgets, approvals and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end development of large-scale power generation projects
- Manage development budgets ($2–$10m), timelines and risk frameworks
- Negotiate major commercial agreements (EPC, connection, land, advisory)
- Coordinate internal teams and external advisors to secure permits and approvals
- Prepare and present investment-grade business cases for Board approval
- Support acquisition due diligence and identify new growth opportunities
- Contribute to portfolio planning and broader energy market strategy
- Manage stakeholder engagement, including regulators, network providers and communities
- 5-10 years’ direct project development experience in power or renewable energy
- Proven track record developing large-scale renewable, firming or energy projects
- Strong understanding of the NEM, connection processes and regulatory frameworks
- Commercial acumen with experience in investment cases
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Planning, Finance, Commerce or related discipline
- Strong project pipeline with multiple assets progressing to FID in 2026
