HSSEQ Advisor - Sydney - Permanent role

About the role

We're on the lookout for a skilled and motivated HSSEQ Advisor situated in Southern Sydney, tasked with offering expert guidance and assistance at the operational level concerning Health, Safety, Security, Environmental, and Quality matters. Reporting directly to the HSSEQ Manager located in WA, the chosen candidate will take charge of integrating HSSEQ protocols into operational functions within their designated areas.
               
Primary Duties
  • Provide specialized HSSEQ advisory services and assistance to the business in collaboration with the broader HSSEQ team.
  • Offer guidance to relevant local teams on strategies aimed at eliminating or mitigating hazards.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and facility tours to ensure HSSEQ compliance across company premises.
  • Lead incident investigations and provide support for product failure inquiries.
  • Develop, upkeep, and monitor HSSE management plans and quality management plans, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Identify and address HSSEQ non-conformances and corrective actions in direct collaboration with project, facility, or functional supervisors and line management.
  • Cultivate a robust reporting culture and nurture relationships with employees based on transparency and trust.
  • Present reports on HSSEQ performance and metrics within a matrix organization, ensuring the accuracy of data input into reporting software for both HSSE and Quality.
  • Monitor ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 compliances within assigned facilities or projects.
Skills & Experience
  • 3-5 years' experience in a similar position within critical risk environments.
  • Demonstrated proactive leadership in HSSEQ.
  • Certificate IV in Health and Safety or a higher qualification.
  • Proficiency in leading incident investigations, preferably ICAM trained or equivalent.
  • Thorough understanding of relevant laws, standards, and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, 45001, and 14001 management system standards.
  • Experience with HAZ/DG products and software such as ChemAlert and Chemwatch (desirable).
  • Competence in developing audit templates and engaging in audit programs.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills enabling effective communication across all levels of the organization, including with customers.
  • Willingness to travel 1-2 times a year to the head office in Western Australia.
