About the Role
This is a key technical role focused on developing and delivering utility-scale BESS solutions across Australia. The position can be tailored to suit both experienced engineers and senior professionals, offering scope to step into a leadership capacity for more senior candidates.
Working closely with commercial and global engineering teams, you will support technical solution development, contribute to major tenders, and play a critical role in securing new projects. Senior candidates will also have the opportunity to lead technical engagements, mentor team members, and shape local engineering capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Support and/or lead technical solution development to grow the BESS pipeline in Australia
- Provide technical input in client meetings, supporting bid success and building trust
- Analyse RFPs/RFQs and develop optimised, compliant technical solutions
- Prepare and review technical tender submissions within deadlines
- Support technical aspects of contract negotiations, including Employer’s Requirements and testing specifications
- Collaborate with clients, consultants, and internal teams to finalise technical scopes
- Translate customer requirements into practical BESS system designs
- Work with global teams to align product and solution development with market needs
- Monitor market trends, grid requirements, and competitor offerings
- Contribute to improving tools, processes, and standardisation within the solutions team
- (For senior candidates) Lead projects, guide junior engineers, and support team development
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Energy Engineering
- Experience in the energy sector, ideally within BESS, renewables, OEMs, integrators, or NSPs
- Understanding of battery systems, PCS, EMS/SCADA, and grid integration principles
- Familiarity with Australian grid connection processes and regulatory requirements
- Ability to interpret technical requirements and contribute to system design solutions
- Exposure to tendering, technical proposals, or client-facing engineering work is advantageous
- Knowledge of protection systems, thermal systems, and safety considerations is beneficial
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
