With a strong focus on delivering complex projects safely and responsibly, they are expanding their Health, Safety, and Environment function and looking for a talented leader to drive HSE performance across their operations.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and implementation of the company’s HSE strategy. Reporting to the General Manager you will work collaboratively with operational, development, and commercial teams to ensure safety, compliance, and sustainability across all projects. You will play a pivotal role in driving HSE initiatives, supporting leadership, and influencing the company culture toward high standards of safety and environmental stewardship.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the implementation of HSE procedures, including SWMS, SWI, and company policies.
• Investigate serious events and recommend actions to prevent recurrence.
• Oversee compliance and governance for operating units and projects.
• Deliver training, awareness, and mentoring programs for team members.
• Maintain statutory HSE records and reporting obligations.
• Provide day-to-day specialist support to project teams, contractors, clients, and visitors.
• Develop and implement supplier/vendor HSE audits and management systems.
• Coach leadership teams to enhance safety leadership and cultural maturity.
• Manage workers compensation claims and other related processes.
• Develop and implement ESG and Sustainability strategies, including tracking performance against key environmental metrics.
• Engage with stakeholders and government agencies on regulatory compliance, approvals, and environmental obligations.
• Ensure site-based environmental compliance, including pollution control, waste management, and conservation initiatives.
• Manage environmental permits, service agreements, and the surrender of leases in accordance with legislation.

To Be Successful

• Degree or Advanced Diploma in Work Health & Safety or similar
• Desirable: Project Management Diploma, Lead Auditor Certification
• Minimum 5 years in HSE
• Ideally within energy, electricity, or construction sectors
• Strong knowledge of HSE legislation and standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001)
• Passion for safety and sustainability with practical, hands-on experience
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Leadership capability to guide teams and influence organisational culture
• Ability to work independently or collaboratively, with strong attention to detail
• Commercial awareness and project management aptitude
