A well-established specialist engineering and manufacturing business is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join their growing product development team. This role focuses on designing custom electronic and power conversion products from scratch while supporting internal stakeholders and customers with technical expertise.
You will play a key role in developing PCB-based power supply solutions including rectifiers and integrated electronic products, ensuring designs are optimised for manufacture, installation and long-term performance. The business delivers solutions used across critical infrastructure environments and offers strong long-term stability and ownership.
Working conditions & package: • Salary between $130k – $150k + super depending on experience • Based near Parramatta with hybrid working open for discussion • 37.5 hour working week with minimal overtime expectations • 4 weeks annual leave • Stable long-term role within a specialist engineering manufacturer • Opportunity to work across multiple major infrastructure sectors
Key responsibilities: • Design multilayer PCBs (typically 4–10+ layers) including high-speed and mixed signal layouts • Develop and review analogue and digital schematic and circuit designs from concept through to release • Design and integrate power conversion and power supply products • Apply signal and power integrity principles including impedance control, grounding strategies and power distribution • Design for EMC / EMI compliance and support troubleshooting activities • Select components considering lifecycle, availability and cost • Apply DFMA principles to ensure designs are suitable for manufacture and assembly • Support prototyping, board bring-up, debugging and validation • Produce complete design documentation including BOMs, Gerbers and drawings • Provide technical support to sales teams, customers, production and service technicians • Maintain ISO requirements and relevant electrical standards compliance
About you: • 5–10 years’ experience as an Electrical / Electronic Design Engineer • Strong experience designing power supplies, rectifiers or power conversion products • Advanced PCB design capability using Altium Designer or similar tools • Experience working closely with manufacturing or installation environments • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to deliver practical design solutions • Exposure to embedded systems or firmware interaction is desirable • Mechanical design awareness is advantageous
