About the Role:
Our client are seeking a Project Safety Advisor to support and promote a strong safety culture across construction projects. You will provide hands-on advice, monitor compliance, and guide project teams, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure all activities meet South Australian WHS standards.
Reporting to the Project Manager, this is a full-time onsite position with no direct reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site WHS advice and support to the project team.
- Ensure compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2012 (SA) and Regulations.
- Implement and maintain the Project WHS Management Plan.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits, identifying hazards and recommending corrective actions.
- Monitor high-risk construction activities, including SWMS, permits, and risk assessments.
- Assist with incident, near-miss, and injury investigations; prepare reports and support corrective actions.
- Coordinate and deliver site safety inductions, toolbox talks, and pre-start meetings.
- Maintain training, licence, and competency records via electronic systems.
- Review subcontractor WHS documentation and monitor on-site compliance.
- Prepare WHS reports, statistics, and safety performance data.
- Support audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote a positive safety culture and engage workers at all levels.
- Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety (Diploma preferred).
- Previous experience as a Safety Advisor or similar in construction.
- Knowledge of South Australian WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, and Australian Standards.
- Strong communication, influencing, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and proactively on a busy construction site.
