About the Role
We are seeking a senior Operations Controller – Team Lead to provide technical and people leadership within a 24/7 Operations Control Centre overseeing utility-scale renewable assets across the Australian National Electricity Market.
This position operates on a rotating roster, providing leadership coverage across all shifts. The role combines real-time monitoring and grid interface responsibilities with team leadership, escalation management, and operational performance oversight. You will act as the senior escalation point during complex events while driving high standards of safety, compliance and commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of Operations Controllers within a shift-based control room environment
- Oversee real-time monitoring and control of wind, solar and BESS assets via SCADA
- Act as senior escalation point for grid, market and plant events
- Interface with AEMO, TNSPs, NSPs and O&M contractors
- Coordinate outages, constraints and emergency response
- Drive performance optimisation, reporting accuracy and continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong experience in power generation, renewable operations, grid operations or control room environments
- Demonstrated leadership capability within high-pressure, 24/7 operational settings
- Solid understanding of NEM operations, dispatch processes and grid compliance
- Commercial awareness with the ability to interpret operational and market data
- Degree in Engineering, Power Systems, Commerce or related discipline preferred
- Senior leadership role within a high-growth renewable portfolio
- Exposure to large-scale wind, solar and BESS assets across the NEM
