Project Delivery Manager – Townsville, QLD

Company Overview:

Our client is a leading Australian ground-improvement and geotechnical specialist, delivering advanced services in permeation grouting, slope stabilisation, and geotechnical investigation drilling. Operating nationally and pride themselves on providing low-impact engineering solutions — often on complex, difficult-access, and environmentally sensitive sites. The team includes geologists, drillers, rope-access technicians, and engineers working collaboratively to deliver safe, high-quality outcomes across civil, mining, dam, and infrastructure projects.

The company culture is defined by reliability, resilience, and “boots-on-the-ground” pragmatism. This company values safety, sustainability, compliance, and a strong work ethic — no matter how remote or challenging the project site.

As the business continue to expand their operations — including work across Queensland — seeking a Project Delivery Manager based in Townsville to lead and coordinate delivery of projects in North Queensland and surrounding regions.

Position Summary / Role Purpose

The Project Delivery Manager will be responsible for the overall delivery of geotechnical and ground-improvement projects in the Townsville / North Queensland region. This role will ensure all projects are delivered safely, on time, within scope and budget, to the quality standards expected by the company. The successful candidate will lead project teams, coordinate with clients and stakeholders, manage resources (personnel, equipment, subcontractors), and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, oversee and drive delivery of multiple ground-improvement / geotechnical projects (e.g. grouting, slope stabilisation, investigation drilling) in the Townsville / North Queensland region.
  • Develop and manage project delivery plans — schedule, resourcing, budgets, risk assessment/mitigation, logistics, equipment & materials, subcontractors.
  • Coordinate with on-site crews: geologists, drillers, rope-access technicians, engineers — ensure roles, responsibilities and tasks are clearly defined and executed.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environment (HSE) and compliance requirements, especially given often remote or difficult-access sites.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, stakeholders and relevant authorities: manage expectations, reporting, contract deliverables, change management.
  • Monitor project progress, quality, costs — prepare and present regular status reports, forecasts, and post-project reviews/lessons learned.
  • Manage mobilisation and demobilisation logistics for remote or hard-to-access terrains (equipment, transport, workforce, site setup).
  • Encourage and enforce the companies core values — safety, quality, reliability, integrity, and practical “boots-on-the-ground” approach.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Substantial project management experience in civil / geotechnical / ground-improvement / mining / infrastructure projects — ideally 5+ years.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering field-based geotechnical or ground-improvement works (grouting, slope stabilisation, investigation drilling, etc).
  • Strong leadership skills, with ability to lead multi-disciplinary field teams, subcontractors, and manage logistics in remote/complex sites.
  • Excellent organisational and planning abilities — scheduling, resourcing, risk management, budgeting, reporting.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills — liaising with clients, contractors, internal teams, and regulatory bodies.
  • High commitment to HSE standards and compliance, with knowledge of relevant Australian regulations / standards.
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions, problem-solve on site, and make decisions under pressure.
  • Valid driver’s licence; willingness to travel and work in remote or regional locations.
Desirable / Preferred
  • Prior experience in slope stabilisation, grouting, ground-improvement or geotechnical investigation projects.
  • Understanding of soil/rock behaviour, geotechnical risk, ground conditions typical of Queensland (or similar climates/terrains).
  • Previous experience working in remote or difficult-access civil/infrastructure sites (mines, dams, coastal slopes, roads, etc).
  • Competence coordinating or supervising drilling, rope-access, shotcrete or similar works.
  • Familiarity with project documentation, compliance, reporting systems, mobilisation/demobilisation logistics.
What's on Offer
  • Opportunity to lead and shape delivery of impactful geotechnical and infrastructure projects across North Queensland.
  • Working within a specialist, highly skilled and collaborative multidisciplinary team.
  • Exposure to diverse and challenging project types (civil, infrastructure, mining, remediation, slope stabilisation, and more).
  • Professional growth, with potential for career progression as the business expands and takes on more projects.
  • Contribution to projects that demand precision, quality, safety and reliability — aligned with the company's core values.
Location Based in Townsville / North Queensland, with frequent travel to project sites across the region as required (site-based work; remote or difficult-access terrain possible).
