Position Overview
Due to steady growth, the business is now seeking a mid-level to senior Estimator who can not only deliver accurate cost plans but also contribute strategically to tenders and the overall estimating function. You will work as part of an office team of 15, with site resources of around 10.
This role suits an Estimator seeking to join a smaller commercial contractor where you’ll have input into strategy, client relationships, and process improvements not just the numbers.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for new build, fitout, and refurbishment projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, and contracts to define scope.
- Conduct detailed take-offs and quantify trades and materials.
- Source and evaluate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Analyse costs including labour, plant, and overheads.
- Drive value engineering and provide strategic input to tender submissions.
- Prepare competitive bids and lead pricing strategies with senior management.
- Keep up to date with market trends and competitor activity.
- Degree-qualified in Construction, Engineering, or Quantity Surveying.
- 5–10+ years’ estimating experience, preferably including Tier 3 commercial projects.
- Strong understanding of both fitout and new build methodology.
- Confident in strategy, pricing, and client-facing discussions.
- Ability to work to deadlines in a busy environment with multiple priorities.
- Salary package in the range of $130K–$180K.
- Exposure across estimating, strategy, and client engagement.
