About the Company

Join a leading international renewable energy developer with a proven track record in delivering utility-scale wind, solar and battery storage projects. With a strong pipeline across New Zealand, this values-driven organisation is committed to sustainability, long-term partnerships and delivering projects that benefit local communities, landholders and regional economies.

About the Role

As Land Acquisition Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in unlocking the next generation of renewable energy projects. You’ll be on the ground across New Zealand identifying land opportunities, negotiating agreements, and building trusted relationships with landowners, iwi and hapū, and key stakeholders. This is an outward-facing role that combines fieldwork, negotiation, and strategic input into the project pipeline.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and evaluate suitable land for renewable projects (wind, solar, BESS).
  • Build and manage relationships with landholders, Māori land trusts, iwi/hapū, and local authorities.
  • Negotiate heads of terms, leases, purchase and access agreements.
  • Oversee due diligence, ensuring risk-free land control.
  • Collaborate with development, planning, grid, environmental and engineering teams.
  • Stay across land policy, Māori land frameworks, and market trends to inform strategy.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven experience in land acquisition, property negotiations, or rural real estate (ideally in infrastructure, renewables, transmission or resources).
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand land tenure, including freehold, leasehold and Māori land structures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with diverse stakeholders.
  • Skilled negotiator with strong commercial acumen.
  • Comfortable with independent fieldwork and extensive travel.
  • Desirable: familiarity with Te Ao Māori, tikanga, and iwi/hapū engagement protocols.
Benefits
  • Play a central role in shaping New Zealand’s renewable energy future.
  • Varied, autonomous role balancing fieldwork and strategic input.
  • Competitive salary, performance incentives, laptop, phone, vehicle allowance and travel expenses.
  • Mentorship from international experts across development, construction and asset management.
  • Work with a global leader committed to sustainability and long-term partnerships.
  • Flexibility to be based anywhere in New Zealand, with travel built into the role.
