Your new role
As Estimator, you’ll be responsible for leading tendering and estimating activities across allocated projects, ensuring submissions align with company objectives and maximise opportunities. You’ll work closely with senior management, the pre-construction team, and delivery personnel across Class 2 residential and commercial projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting tender prequalification and managing post-tender negotiations
- Reviewing and analysing tender documentation
- Preparing Design & Construct tenders and lump sum contract estimates
- Interpreting architectural drawings, plans, and specifications
- Preparing accurate project budgets, quantity take-offs, and detailed cost estimates (labour, materials, equipment, subcontract, construction, facilities)
- Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain and assess quotes
- Collaborating with construction personnel to ensure accurate scope reviews
- Managing builder’s quantities, measuring, and pricing
- Providing detailed handovers and ongoing support to project teams
- Implementing best-practice solutions to improve estimating processes
- Maintaining accurate records and actively seeking new business opportunities
- Tertiary qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline
- 5+ years’ estimating experience within a head contractor environment
- Strong background tendering on Class 2 residential projects (Design & Construct and lump sum contracts)
- Proven ability to interpret drawings, plans, and specifications
- Solid understanding of project logistics, schedules, and construction methodologies
- Experience using estimating software such as Cubit (or similar)
- Strong communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
