Location: Projects across Australia (travel required)
Contract Duration: 5 months
Start Date: ASAP
Industry: Energy & Utilities – Renewable Energy
Employment Type: Contract

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist organisation delivering turnkey, outcome-based solutions in the Energy and Utilities sectors. With a strong footprint across Power, Gas, Water, and Renewables, they focus on enabling long-term, sustainable improvements across the value chain.
They are currently seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to support the delivery of large-scale renewable energy projects – including Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) – across multiple sites in Australia.
This 5-month contract role will support both delivery and grid connection phases of utility-scale projects and will involve working closely with OEMs, site contractors, and network service providers.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate hot commissioning activities across solar and BESS assets
  • Ensure readiness for commissioning, including completion of mechanical and cold commissioning
  • Develop and implement Testing & Commissioning Plans integrating OEM and Balance of Plant components
  • Coordinate Hold Point testing and manage grid connection processes with NSPs and AEMO
  • Lead troubleshooting and manage data collection to address GPS compliance and connection issues
  • Collaborate with internal project teams, delivery partners, and external stakeholders
  • Support transition from project development to execution, and assist in scope changes or contract variations
  • Input into scheduling, risk assessments, scope documentation, and procurement planning
Required Experience
  • Proven commissioning experience in utility-scale Solar PV and BESS projects
  • Working knowledge of AEMO grid connection processes in the Australian market
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the renewable energy sector
  • Strong understanding of QA, HSE, and commissioning procedures
  • Background in EPC project environments is highly desirable
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification preferred
  • Willingness to travel to project sites across Australia as required
This is a great opportunity for a hands-on Commissioning Manager to contribute to high-profile renewable energy projects, with immediate impact and exposure to national delivery.
