We are seeking a skilled and motivated Transmission Lines Engineer to play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of transmission infrastructure projects that support the transition to clean energy. As part of a global organization focused on grid modernization, you will contribute technical expertise to high-voltage transmission line and substation developments, supporting project delivery from feasibility through to commissioning.
You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners including utilities, EPCs, and government agencies to ensure project success in alignment with technical standards, safety regulations, and sustainability objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct technical assessments and feasibility studies for transmission line and substation infrastructure projects.
- Develop and review engineering designs, specifications, and drawings for transmission lines (typically 132kV and above).
- Ensure compliance with relevant Australian standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (commercial, legal, finance, and business development) to align technical solutions with project goals.
- Support preparation of technical documentation for tenders, contracts, and regulatory submissions.
- Liaise with utilities, grid operators, consultants, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor and manage engineering project deliverables, budgets, and timelines.
- Provide engineering support during construction, testing, and commissioning phases.
- Assist in identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies to ensure project reliability and resilience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- 4+ years of experience in transmission line engineering, preferably within high-voltage power systems (HV/EHV).
- Proficiency in transmission line design software (e.g., PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, or equivalent).
- Understanding of Australian electricity market, network codes, and transmission grid standards.
- Experience working with or for utilities, EPC contractors, or transmission asset owners is desirable.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to technical detail.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards CPEng accreditation.
- Experience with substation interface engineering.
- Knowledge of renewable energy integration and grid connection requirements.
