About The Role
The Civil/Mechanical Site Engineer oversees civil and mechanical works on utility-scale solar and BESS projects, ensuring they are delivered safely and in line with design specifications, project requirements, and relevant standards. The role requires strong coordination with contractors, design consultants, and the broader project team. It plays a critical part in ensuring quality execution and timely completion of all site-based activities.
Responsibilities And Duties
- Technical Oversight & Quality Control: Interpret drawings/specs, inspect site works (earthworks, foundations, racking, BESS, etc.), and ensure compliance with standards and quality requirements.
- Site Coordination & Supervision: Monitor daily progress, coordinate with subcontractors and stakeholders, and manage interfaces between civil, mechanical, and electrical teams.
- HSE Compliance: Enforce safety procedures, conduct inspections/audits, and ensure all works meet health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain site records, manage NCRs and RFIs, and support regular project reporting.
- Procurement & Material Control: Track and verify delivery and quality of civil/mechanical materials in line with project requirements.
- Commissioning Support: Assist in testing and commissioning of mechanical systems and prepare documentation for handover.
- General Contributions: Drive process improvements, uphold company policies and culture, and promote collaboration and innovation on site.
Qualifications And Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience in contract management, construction management or project management
- Solar industry, power industry or utility construction industry experience essential
- Experience with the management of EPC contracts and related consultancy / service agreements
- Demonstrated capacity to work both autonomously and within the team environment and make decisions within an intense construction environment
- Negotiation skills, problem solving and ability to relate to diverse stakeholder groups
- Understanding of interrelated contracts, schedules, documentation management, financial administration and reporting
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly
- Good knowledge of Project Office systems
