My client is a well-established construction and infrastructure contractor with a proven track record delivering complex works across transport, utilities, industrial, and civil infrastructure sectors. With a turnover of $70 million and a healthy pipeline of secured projects and tenders, they are strategically positioned for sustained growth.
The Role
The successful Project Manager will take the lead on major infrastructure development, encompassing significant civil works, bulk earthworks, utilities coordination, pavements, and structural infrastructure delivery. You will be responsible for steering the project from planning through to completion, ensuring quality, safety, and budget targets are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Programming – Define project scope, methodology, and sequencing with the client and internal team. Develop detailed construction programs including staging, resources, and procurement schedules.
- Team & Stakeholder Leadership – Lead a multidisciplinary delivery team, including engineers, foremen, subcontractors, and design consultants. Maintain strong client and stakeholder engagement, including authorities and service providers.
- Quality & Safety Assurance – Implement robust QA/QC processes and enforce strict compliance with WHS requirements, particularly in high-risk civil works environments.
- Financial & Contract Management – Manage budgets, variations, claims, and subcontract agreements to ensure commercial outcomes are protected.
- Risk & Issue Management – Identify construction, environmental, and stakeholder risks early and implement mitigation strategies to avoid delays or cost overruns.
- Regulatory Compliance – Ensure all works meet relevant Australian Standards, engineering specifications, and statutory requirements.
- Relevant degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent
- 8–12+ years’ experience in civil and infrastructure project delivery, ideally with exposure to industrial or large-scale transport-related works
- Proven track record managing bulk earthworks, drainage, pavements, structures, and service installations
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including liaison with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and authorities
- Proficiency in construction management software such as Procore, Aconex, or similar
- Comprehensive understanding of WHS legislation and civil construction methodologies
