You will join a well financed BESS/Solar PV developer, with a small but talented power systems team already in place. 

About the Role

As Principal Power Systems Engineer, you’ll take ownership of all grid connection engineering and power system modelling workstreams from early development through to commissioning. Working alongside project development, delivery, and commercial teams, you’ll drive technical excellence across GPS negotiations, generator modelling, and compliance planning.

Responsibilities
  • Lead power system studies including load flow, short circuit, and dynamic analysis in PSSE, PSCAD, and/or PowerFactory.
  • Manage grid connection applications and GPS negotiations with AEMO and TNSPs.
  • Oversee R0/R1/R2 submissions and ensure compliance with NER Chapter 5 and Schedule 5.2.
  • Review and refine OEM dynamic models; undertake due diligence on third-party studies.
  • Support commissioning strategy, hold point testing, and model validation activities.
  • Mentor junior engineers and interface with internal and external stakeholders including consultants, EPCs, OEMs, and regulatory bodies.
Skills & Experience
  • Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong experience in power systems engineering within renewable energy or transmission.
  • Deep knowledge of the NEM, NER, AEMO’s connection processes, and GPS requirements.
  • Advanced user of PSSE, PSCAD, PowerFactory.
  • Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
