The Company

Established head contractor with 20 years industry experience delivering projects across the east coast. 

They deliver projects within the commercial, residential and mix-use sector up to $100M + 
  
The Role
As the successful Estimating Manager, you are responsible for managing x2 experienced Estimators and a cadet supporting them at all stages of tendering process. 
  
You will also be responsible for 1.5 tenders per month and the review of the progress of existing projects to ensure their completion within the parameters of the established project budget.

Your responsibilities include:
  • Manage and coach the estimating team effectively by conducting regular meetings with each direct report to ensure they are meeting their key deliverable's.
  • Ensure you adhere to companies tendering policies and system procedures are closely understood and effectively implemented by the estimating team.
  • Continually monitor progress of tender pricing against trade budgets to identify problems.
  • Be aware of and ensure compliance with head contract provisions and conditions that will impact on pricing and preliminaries.
  • Establish an overall program that clearly identifies all activities and the appropriate milestones for the project bid.
  • Ensure optimal use of time in the preparation of tenders or negotiated work, with a concentration of effort on strategically important components.
  • Assess high risk activities and in conjunction with appropriate personnel recommend approach to be taken on tendered projects.
  • Actively participate in the development of a cost plan for all key areas of project costing such elements as a preliminary design develops.
  • Review and analyse key aspects of constructability / build ability with respect to design development and cost.
  • Manage all project bid filing and administration preceding construction including drawing controls.
  • Market the company constructions services and seek opportunities for the company.
  • Conduct and contribute to tender review meetings.
  • Keep abreast of current market rates and issues and updates pricing.
Skills & experience:
  • Degree qualified in a Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
  • Have a proven track record in the submission of successful tenders ranging in value from $50M-$100M
  • You will have the ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with sub-contractors
  • You will have proven leadership capabilities
  • Mentoring and training the team
  • Residential experienced preferred
