A highly dynamic, fast-growing construction company based in South West Sydney is seeking an experienced and proactive HR Generalist to join their team. Position Overview:
This is a newly created role designed to bring dedicated HR capability in-house as the business continues to grow. The HR Generalist will play a key role in shaping and delivering day-to-day HR operations while supporting the broader people strategy. It’s a varied, hands-on position ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment. The role covers recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, training coordination, and early talent attraction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the full recruitment lifecycle, from advertising and interviewing to offers and onboarding
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with local universities and TAFEs to attract early-career talent
- Organise and represent the company at university open days, careers fairs, and student engagement events
- Coordinate guest talks, site visits, and internship programs to support future talent pipelines
- Provide advice and support on HR policies, procedures, and employee relations issues
- Maintain employee records
- Coordinate learning and development activities and support performance management
- Ensure compliance with Fair Work legislation, modern awards, and WHS requirements
- Contribute to HR projects and drive engagement and retention initiatives
- Be a key point of contact for employees and managers on general HR matters
- 2–5 years’ experience in a generalist HR role, preferably within the construction or related industries
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
- Strong interest in talent attraction and early careers engagement
- Solid understanding of Australian employment law and HR best practice
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and approachable style
- Highly organised, detail-focused, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities
- Experience using HRIS and payroll systems
