Our client is a national civil contractor delivering infrastructure and maintenance projects across a range of sectors. With continued growth across their operations, they are now seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to support site teams and drive safety outcomes across the business.
About the Role:
Reporting to the HSE Manager, the Safety Advisor will play a pivotal role in promoting a positive health, safety, and environmental culture. You’ll partner with supervisors and operational staff across various departments to provide expert guidance, drive best practices, and ensure compliance with legislative and internal requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support management and staff with advice on all safety matters
- Monitor and ensure compliance with WHS legislation, procedures, and safe work practices
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the safety system, including certifications, audits, and safety data
- Coordinate and participate in HSE audits, risk assessments, and safety inspections
- Assist with incident investigations (ICAM methodology) and maintain the incident report register
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support system integration and ISO compliance
- Organise safety committee meetings, take minutes, and follow up on action items
- Provide support with injury management in consultation with the RTW Coordinator
- Assist in the delivery of safety communications and toolbox talks
- Monitor first aid certification currency and coordinate training as needed
- Certificate IV in Occupational Health & Safety
- Experience working with safety systems and interpreting safety data
- Strong understanding of WHS legislation and ISO standards
- ICAM Lead Investigator accreditation
- High-level communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage others
- Strong computer literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- A proactive, collaborative approach and genuine passion for safety
