We are recruiting a Lead Utility Engineer for a specialist renewable-energy engineering consultancy. The role is suited to someone with a strong grounding in C&I solar/BESS engineering who is looking to expand into utility-scale solar and HV design.
The position combines technical leadership on commercial projects with increasing involvement in solar farms, connection works and outsourced HV packages, as the business builds its internal high-voltage capability.
About the Role
The Lead Utility Engineer will be responsible for:
- Supporting delivery of utility-scale solar farm projects, including scope interpretation, design oversight, progress tracking and client communication.
- Reviewing and approving engineering work to ensure compliance with Australian Standards and internal quality expectations.
- Coordinating outsourced HV consultants, managing quotes, deliverables and integration into project workflows.
- Contributing to connection documentation, SLD/PSLD reviews, and technical inputs for grid-connection requirements.
- Delivering C&I PV and BESS designs as part of the broader project portfolio.
- Providing guidance, feedback and mentoring to junior engineers and contributing to internal training.
- Helping build and maintain engineering standards, internal tools and QA/QC processes
About You
Ideal experience and attributes:
- Background in electrical, solar PV or BESS engineering, with several years working on C&I-scale projects.
- Comfortable producing or reviewing SLDs, cable calculations and design documentation.
- Interest in developing HV and utility-scale capability over time, supported by structured mentoring and external consultants.
- Ability to review work, communicate clearly with engineers, and contribute to a supportive team environment.
- Able to manage time, track project budgets and support consistent technical delivery.
