Based in Banksmeadow, our client is an international Freight Forwarder with multiple offices throughout Australia. Established for over 75 years, they are committed to giving back through social causes and sponsorships of community sporting organisations.
The Role:
They are seeking an experienced Customer Service Specialist to manage shipments from the point your client notifies you of the shipment, up until it's time for the Customs and Transport teams to take over. Regular communication with your clients at key intervals of the shipment's progression is an important part of the role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Using your experience as a Customer Service Specialist to facilitate the smooth movement of shipments by advising the client on appropriate shipping methods, tradelanes, transit times, as well as taking steps to avoid unnecessary delays
- Regular communication with clients, via phone and email
- Accurate quoting of shipments, including origin and destination charges, international freight, and local delivery, according to the shipment's incoterms
- Regularly updating client rates in CW1 to maintain accuracy of invoices generated by the billing team
- Sending air & sea cargo messages
- Liaising with Customs and Transport teams to ensure clear status and facilitate delivery
- Minimum 3 years in a freight forwarding Customer Service role
- The ability to spot the smoke before it becomes a fire, and act quickly and appropriately
- Ability to build a strong rapport with clients, and provide advice on the most appropriate shipping methods
- Firm understanding of different tradelanes for both air and sea shipments, and to be able to accurately quote for them
- Proficiency with CargoWise is a must
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Australian resident with unrestricted working rights
