Job Role: 
 
  • Lead a team of professional engineers to solve complex engineering problems through in-depth analysis and investigation, implementing new technologies to drive the continuous improvement and cost-effectiveness of the Advanced Energy Management System.
  • Lead the development and delivery of professional technical expertise and solutions to other stakeholders in relation to AEMs related design reviews, factory and site acceptance testing, significant procurement plans, tender evaluations and negotiations, project governance and scoping, and non-standard solutions.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of technical design standards, control system works methodologies, and the integration of new technologies, ensuring strict adherence to safety policies and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee and direct the execution of AEMS and operational technology training programs, ensuring a high-level understanding of contemporary control systems, advanced equipment, and associated engineering principles is achieved.
  • Lead a team of professional engineers providing expert engineering services regarding AEMS control system functions including assurance of appropriate risk profile management, whilst ensuring the AEMS control system environment is robustly maintained.
  • Oversee the provision of professional engineering services, ensuring stringent compliance with operational technology design principals, AM policies, procedures, and all relevant legislative Acts, Standards, and Codes of Practice related to Control Systems, including Safe Work Method documentation.
  • Provide advanced Engineering oversight for Engineers and Senior Engineers and address complex issues that require a high degree of originality, ingenuity, judgement and, perform significant independent professional engineering services to develop outcomes for intricate problems in Control Systems using advanced engineering principles and data in accordance with the Professional Engineers Act.
  • Provide professional oversight and direction to establish engineering standards for use by Senior Engineers, Engineers, and other technical employees
  • Lead, manage, and influence the design and approval (RPEQ) of SCADA and AEMS related work for expedited projects and operational emergency in-service change
 
Essential:
 
  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with significant experience in power systems control environments
  • Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ)
 
Position Requirements:
  • Demonstrated expertise in the design, maintenance, construction, testing, and commissioning of control systems, engineering applications, power system operations, Energy/Digital/Telecommunications Network Management Systems and associated equipment, with a deep understanding of advanced engineering principles and applications.
  • Proven ability to strategically manage transmission control systems to achieve organisational objectives and deliver outcomes aligned with business strategy.
  • High level capability to innovate and recommend advanced work methodologies that optimize efficiency, reliability, and safety while supporting long-term business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead a team/s fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performance engineering teams, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilise SCADA data communication technologies (e.g. DNP3, Conitel, ICCP, serial and IP based methods).
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders including internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies, influencing decision-making processes and driving consensus.
  • Comprehensive experience in Electrical Engineering, encompassing control system stability in Operational Technology environments. In-depth understanding of the legal and technical implications of the National Electricity Rules (NER) & Australian Energy Regulator (AER) on business practices, coupled with a strong knowledge of relevant legislative requirements (Electricity Act, Workplace Health and Safety Act, Environmental Protection Act).
