About the Company:

Our client is a leading player in the heavy civil and building commercial sectors, known for our commitment to excellence and innovation. We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to drive strategic outcomes, manage high-risk projects, and contribute to our senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, negotiate, and administer contracts with a focus on strategic commercial advice and legal implications.
  • Identify, assess, and manage legal risks associated with contracts and projects, ensuring robust risk mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with the Tendering team to address all risks in Tendering and cover them comprehensively in Subcontract Terms and Conditions/Scope of Work.
  • Develop and distribute accurate KPIs and perform in-depth analysis on high-risk projects and claims.
  • Provide strategic guidance to project teams, fostering a collaborative and legally sound environment.
  • Lead on monitoring and steering outcomes for high-risk/value claims and disputes, ensuring positive strategies and resolutions.
  • Manage repeat client relationships and contribute to effective client management.
  • Potentially be a member of the company senior leadership team, contributing to high-level strategic decisions.
Key Skills & Experience:
  • 10+ years in a heavy civil or building commercial role, preferably on the subcontractor side.
  • Proven experience dealing with Tier 1 civil subcontractors.
  • Strong understanding of legal principles and contracts essential for managing commercial agreements.
  • Expertise in contract development, negotiation, administration, and strategic commercial advice.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a creative approach to complex issues.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Self-starting and proactive, with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
