Job Overview:
As the Plant and Yard Manager, you will play a critical role in managing all plant and equipment within the construction yard. You will lead a team of yard staff to ensure equipment is maintained, operational, and utilized effectively to support our construction projects. Your focus will be on maintaining a safe working environment, coordinating maintenance and repairs, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Management:
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of all construction plant and equipment.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to keep equipment in optimal condition.
- Coordinate with equipment suppliers and service providers for necessary repairs and maintenance.
- Ensure all equipment is serviced and inspected before and after use.
- Manage the organisation and layout of the construction yard for maximum efficiency.
- Supervise yard staff, including equipment operators, maintenance technicians, and laborers.
- Allocate resources effectively to support ongoing projects.
- Ensure secure and safe storage of equipment when not in use.
- Maintain accurate records of all equipment, tools, and materials.
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies as necessary.
- Conduct regular stock checks and audits to ensure accuracy.
- Provide training and guidance to yard staff on equipment operation, safety procedures, and best practices.
- Identify training needs and opportunities for skill development within the team.

- Implement and enforce safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and address hazards or concerns promptly.
- Proven experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction plant and equipment, including maintenance and repair procedures.
